Its been a long and beautiful year and it is only fitting that it ends with a beautiful track. I thought that I would save this favorite for an end of year closer. George Ramogi’s 1971 hit Affline the pretty.

And a bonus track: here is Peter King’s Afro Funk.

Finally, another deep session of note: this one is from deepsoulsessions. Give it a listen.

This mix has a swahili mdundiko chant that sounds almost like something that kids would sing in sheng back in primo - in fact, it almost sounds like something that I may have sang with my peers back in Std. 2. The swahili track starts at 36 minutes and ends at about 42 minutes.

[edit]
The track turns out to be an Afro Blue track from 2003, Neache wangu (KDT Edit)

That should actually be Niachie wangu in Kiswahili sanifu, right?
[end edit]

A very nice mix that stands by itself even without the swahili track.

Any other business:
+ I apologize for a ton of unanswered comments, I have been running ragged trying to keep up with life and have let things sort of just run themselves for a while through the holiday season.

But fear not.

I have the special that I promised a while back with as many of the requests that you have put in over the past year as I can possible find in the hopper now and it should be up shortly. I also apologize to those who left comments that are still need responses. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make WordPress show me more than the last 20 comments so I cannot access them any more. If any one knows how to do this, please give me a heads up so that I can start tackling the backlog.

+ Microwaving humans for fun and profit.

+ Google’s “Evil Scale”

+ One of the best written pieces I have seen in the Standard for quite a while, pity it’s written more as an op-ed (since it contains opinion in what really should be a factual piece) rather than straight reporting.

+ New York, New York, Big City of Dreams

+ For the photography buffs among you , the XRez Gallery - ultra high definition images a la The GigaPixel project.

+ Give TO the boot this pundit says: well, even if you don’t like the guy, I contend he is still a great player.

Hate the game, not the player.

Look for a big story that I will be posting in the first week of 2007 - some fantastic developments on the connectivity front for KRs.

Oh, and make the most of 2007. Life is what you make it. Happy New Year all.

Thank you all. I look forward to another year of great music, talk and getting great things done.

I hope that you will be here with me for the ride.
