musical link: Mpongo Love, Orchestra Super Mazembe & Manu Dibango
Way back then, Madelle requested Mpongo Love’s Ndaya so here it is.
Then, just because I can, I take you back to rumba. This track is a new favorite of mine from Orchestra Super Mazembe whom are named after - believe it or not - the lingala name for a bulldozer. Why? Well, they figure that “their music had the same earthmoving effect”. Their track for today is Jiji.

Finally, a bonus track for those of you brave enough to go this far: This week, its a classic - Manu Dibango’s Soul Makossa.
Which reminds me that Wyclef Jean used this track in the intro of his 1997? album The Carnival. There was one track from that album - Street Jeopardy - that made me go out and actually buy the album - it describes life in Nairobi down to a “t”.

Yes, I agree, their styles were very similar and when I was younger, I could not tell them apart. They are both great vocal artists whose music is still quite something 20 years and counting later.

Bakende Bokila and Kanido hits were single released in 1980. When i started follow the Kasongo vocalist whenever i’m going to school.

I usually open this site on friday evening after a long week for music and rela.That explains that whenever I check it during the weekdays I expect to find some other stuff than music.I always do! But come friday morning like today I did not expect to find such great music.Ya I did and hope to have a great day then.
