There were only 3 survivors, Air Force flight engineer Joseph Mureithi, Senior Private Trevor Mwamunge and Eastern Provincial Commissioner Patrick Osare. Others who perished in the plane include the plane’s captain and his co-pilot Major David Njoroge and Captain Joseph Maina Mureithi, Bishop William Waqo, assistant Anglican bishop, Kirinyaga and personal assistant to Archbishop Benjamin Nzimbi, Eastern provincial police chief Thomas Chigamba, Mr G. The death of these citizens is a great loss to the country especially that of Dr. Godana whom I feel was one of the few politicians in the country who used his solid educational and professional background as a launching pad to champion the cause of his constituency and Kenyans in general in a very articulate and public way. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these Kenyans at this very trying time.

There was a tragic plane crash where 14 people lost their lives, including several members of parliament and government officials, who were on a peace mission.
